A Thoughtful Caution on ACBC Counseling
While we know individual counselors associated with ACBC who are caring and competent, based on the concerns described in the letter linked below, as well as certain other methodological concerns, we do NOT recommend ACBC counseling as a general matter.
These concerns relate to the handling of certain cases involving vulnerable women, questions of accountability, and issues of transparency, among others. Because numerous women we have served have already experienced significant harm and/or marginalization in ACBC counseling settings, we believe it is wise to exercise caution in this area.
For those who would like more information, the letter below provides some background and context for this caution. Additional interactions with ACBC leadership after the date of the letter have in our opinion further confirmed our concerns.
